Prototypes
Over the past year, I developed a bunch of prototypes designed to explore and expand the role of Large Language Models (LLMs) as a central gameplay mechanic. I categorize them into three phases, indicating the evolving understanding of the unique advantages LLMs offer, as well as what limits there are hindering our usage.
Phase 1 :
Core Identity & Connection
We started to think about what makes Ai2U interesting. Is it the unlimited possibilities of ways to achieve a goal or the feeling of connections to a character? How to replicate that success? With those questions, we created our first couple of prototypes, aiming for replicating the emotional resonance.
Phase 2 :
Outside of Chatbox
We wanted to step away from merely having players type to a chatbot. Moving past simple text-response loops. LLM should be able to handle more decisions rather than merely respond to players.
Phase 3:
Beyond the Text
We tried to explore other ways of fun interaction between players and LLM, other than the dialogue input box.
